Learning about learning…

The Year 3’s are planning a new PYP unit of inquiry, learning about learning itself.  I wish learning had been like that when I was at school!

The central idea is:

Understanding different ways of learning helps people to learn’, and they will inquire into what learning is; how the brain functions; and learning styles.

During my exploration of ideas for the unit, I discovered a wonderful website, Learning about Learning, which is part of Learning and Teaching Scotland.

It is a mine of interesting and relevant information on different aspects of learning:  the brain, emotions, thinking, creativity, motivation , collaboration, digital learning and assessment.

There is a whole array of movie clips… informative movies, illustrative movies and perspective movies, which feature the views of prominent researchers, educationalists and practitioners who offer insights and advice.  Don’t even click on the link if you don’t have time!
