Learning today…

One of the requirements for an application to Google Teacher Academy is to create a one minute video on classroom innovation…

Here’s what I learned:

  • You don’t need to know anything about video to create one.
  • Process is far more important then product when it comes to learning (We should always assess that, rather than the end result)
  • If something is worthwhile to you, obstacles can be overcome.
  • You can make up for lack of skill if you are resourceful.
  • A cartoon can deliver a powerful message… useful when time is limited!
  • Support and encouragement  can come from interesting, sometimes unexpected places… in this case Vancouver, Brooklyn, Chennai.

  1. I love your ideas! You don’t have to be knowledgeable…as long as you are resourceful! I write about this concept in my newest ebook, which you can download for free at this link:

It’s 65-pages long, so you may not be able to read it all in one sitting. I would love for you to read it and tell me what you think!
    Thanks!

  2. I loved the message and the way you wove together the different formats. I liked the mix of ToonDoo cartoons, the stylized keywords, and the photos. I’m guessing you used MovieMaker?

Best of luck with your application. I hope you’re encouraged to share what you learn with us!

  3. Wow! Good luck! I truly enjoyed my experience with Google Teacher Academy! It was great. Also, I appreciate you sending in your information this summer as we have been working on our Flat Classroom book. I’m looking everywhere on your blog to find out where you are located. Do you have an “about me” page? Just wondering and good luck with your application!

  4. I like the points you made on what you learned through the process of creating your GTA video. These are many of the things I am hoping to help my students learn and realize as they develop and create their digital portfolios this semester. Thanks for the posts! They are always encouraging!
